What is the Horsmonden Neighbourhood Plan?
The Horsmonden Neighbourhood Plan sets out planning policies for our village which, if voted for on 8 June, must be taken into account by any future planning applications and decisions.
The policies in the plan include:
Design guides for any new development to ensure they complement our village and its surroundings sustainably.
Housing mix that genuinely meets local needs.
Protection of local green spaces, historic views, ancient woodland, and biodiversity
Provision of pavements, parking and traffic speed control
Provision of medical facilities to meet any growth
The HNP was created by a steering committee of volunteer Horsmonden residents, appointed by the Parish Council, over a period of years beginning in 2017, and Horsmonden residents were regularly invited to have input through questionnaires and workshops.
Neighbourhood plans CANNOT stop development. Development locations are determined by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
Voting 'No' for the HNP will not stop houses being built in Horsmonden.
Voting ‘Yes’ for the HNP will ensure village-driven policies become part of all planning decisions.
After public consultation and consideration by TWBC and an independent examiner, the final version of our Neighbourhood Plan is now ready to be adopted by us and this is what the vote on 8 June is for.
It is the best tool we have to try to safeguard Horsmonden’s character whilst
providing new homes. It can be used to hold developers to account and will form a
solid basis on which to object to any unsuitable planning applications (the current
Bassetts Farm application is just one example)
Please vote “Yes” in favour on 8 June.
