Post-summer update

Things have been quiet during the summer break, but we wanted to give you an update on a few recent/current items as it's likely that things will start to move again now people are returning.

  • The Parish Council and the BFF await responses to their challenges to the latest amendment to plans submitted by Persimmon.

  • Kent County Council Highways and Transportation have expressed concern over the proposal to use Back Lane as a secondary, emergency access, given that the applicant has ownership over only part of the route. Therefore, "Using this link from Back Lane to the site as an access for emergency vehicles cannot be secured and is a concern as it is required for the application site to have a secondary emergency access in line with Kent Design Guide." The full letter can be read here https://twbcpa.midkent.gov.uk/online-applications/files/5739D439AD4E5C6B6E6C2996F603EDFC/pdf/24_00078_HYBRID-KCC_Highways_Comments-4523149.pdf

  • Southern Water has undertaken detailed network modelling of the impact that the additional foul sewerage flows from the proposed development will have on the existing public sewer network. This indicates that these additional flows will lead to an increased risk of foul flooding from the sewer network. Monitoring of existing flows may be required; this will enable us to establish the extent of any work. Network reinforcement that is deemed necessary to mitigate the impacts identified will be provided by Southern Water.

  • The application will not go to Committee in September, so the earliest possible date for it to be decided will be Wednesday 9 October at 6.30pm. Watch this space for further information.
