BFF and HPC comment on TWBC's response to Inspector's Examination of New Local Plan

Public Consultation on TWBC’s Response to the Inspector’s Initial Findings Letter on the Examination of the New Local Plan is open for public consultation until 12 April.

Although the Inspector's Initial Findings centre mostly around the plans for Tudeley, Capel and Paddock Wood, TWBC's response to the Inspector also refers to the number of houses allocated to Horsmonden.

The Local Plan, once adopted, will be material in planning decisions going forward. BFF has reviewed and commented on TWBC's response where it affects Horsmonden (see below for the full text)

In summary:

  • The Horsmonden housing allocations in the proposed response to the Inspector have been adjusted, but they are still wrong (too high). Both Horsmonden Parish Council and the BFF have challenged this.

  • In addition to the out-of-date allocation numbers, the consultation refers to the expected timing of the developments in Horsmonden - both Bassetts Farm and Brenchely Road have been brought forward from 2030 to 2026. This makes it even more important that GP Health Services, Primary School places, Traffic calming, Sewers, and Utilities are all prioritised and delivered before any new houses are occupied.
