A new emergency access plan for Bassetts Farm - but no other changes

Hello all

Just a sort update on Bassets at the end of a second year of applications and amendments.

We have made some enquiries about why the application didn’t go to the TWBC planning committee on 4th December as advised and when it might now be considered.

The Case Officer confirmed that the delay is due questions raised by KCC on the proposed emergency access down the track and footpath off Back Lane. KCC have told us that a new proposal for a different emergency access route is now being worked up and should be published on the portal in the New Year. The details of this new proposal are being discussed by the Case Officer and Persimmon.

The Case Officer has also said that she is not aware of any other amendments and that the revised application could go to the TW planning committee on 5th February or later. But we assume that there will be another consultation period first.

So it seems that the Parish Council’s representations on the high housing density hot spot on the West site, the location of the Medical Centre, the many house design short comings, the sewer issues, traffic, and more, are being ignored by Persimmon - and now we will need to take a new look at where emergency vehicles may need to go.

We really appreciate all the comments that the village has made during 2024. The current Bassetts application and its amendments has received 235 comments from residents and the PC on the planning portal (125% of the 2023 application level) - ALL of these are objections! Thank you.

We hope you had a good Christmas, and wish you a Happy New Year! We'll stay in touch.
