Officers recommend that application is GRANTED

  • Everything you need to know about the meeting to decide the fate of Bassetts Farm on 2 April (meeting information from TWBC website)

The agenda and Case Officer's report has been published for the next Planning Committee Meeting and Bassetts Farm is on it. Bassetts will be considered first.

After two years of challenging, researching, objecting and campaigning, the time has finally come.

BFF will be putting our comments forward at the meeting. Our message is clear: the proposal is inappropriate, non-compliant, excessive and unsustainable. In short, it's still the wrong plan for our village.

The Case Officer's Report, in which a summary of the case with a recommendation to grant the application has been published. We will be studying it! Read it here:

At the meeting, the Councillors on the Planning Committee will vote on whether to approve or reject the recommendation.

The majority vote will carry.

The Planning Committee comprises 11 Councillors - 6 Lib Dem, 2 Conservative, 2 Labour and 1 Tunbridge Wells Alliance.

Attending

Meetings are held in the town hall and are webcast live online.

The meeting to decide on Persimmon's application will be held at Tunbridge Wells Council Chamber at 6.30pm on 2 April.

Any member of the public may attend to watch/listen in person or online live.

Watching online

If you wish to watch the meeting online instead, go to https://democracy.tunbridgewells.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=377&MId=5753.

Speaking

Members of the public are encouraged to participate and may speak to the Council directly on any item on the agenda for up to 3 minutes. Members of the public (and any members of the Council who are not members of the committee) will need to register with Democratic Services in advance.

If you wish to regsiter to speak, email Committee@Tunbridgewells.gov.uk, saying that you wish to speak on the Bassetts Farm agenda item - suggested text: Request to speak on 2 April Planning Committee meeting ref. Bassetts Farm (24/00078/HYBRID)

You should say whether you wish to speak FOR or AGAINST the proposal.

You do not have to pre-submit what you plan to say.

Comments should be in the form of a statement giving your opinion on the matter. Members of the committee may not answer questions or get into a debate with you.

Registration to speak is now open, and closes at 4pm on the last working day before the meeting (1 April).

Places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis except that if there are several speakers from the same group they will be asked to nominate someone to represent their collective view.

Number of speakers

For most meetings there may be up to 4 speakers per agenda item and speakers have up to 3 minutes each.

Occasionally, when a matter is of especial public interest, the Full Council may resolve to increase the number of speakers. This will need to be agreed in advance and, if so, details will be set out in the agenda for the relevant meeting.

For Planning Committee there may be a maximum of 4 speakers in favour of an application plus 4 speakers against an application, each with up to 3 minutes.

Asking questions at the meeting

At ordinary meetings of Full Council or Cabinet it is possible to ask questions.

This is not, however, possible for Planning Committee meetings.
