WHO ARE WE?

We are a group of residents of Horsmonden who love where we live, and wish to ensure that any development at Bassetts Farm will serve the best interests of its residents, current and future.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

Our mission is to help make sure that Horsmonden retains its village character, soul and countryside environs as it grows.

We have formed this group to give voice to the village of Horsmonden and to try to make it simpler for every member of the village to understand, influence and have their concerns heard by those who will decide its future.

We believe that the plans proposed by Persimmon Homes for development on Bassetts Farm fail in provision for the type, design, density, layout and access arrangements, and are not sympathetic to the rural character of Horsmonden.

We want to ensure that in these respects, and others, new development conforms to the policies laid out in the Horsmonden Neighbourhood Plan and other applicable local and national policies - rather than simply swelling the profits of Persimmon and its shareholders.  After all, they don't live here.

We also believe that the village infrastructure - roads, drainage, school size, availability of doctors and dentists - would be stretched to the point of breaking if too large a plan is approved.

Planning regulations are complex. Big development firms like Persimmon have teams of people, years of experience and know how to push their applications through.  They have profits to make and shareholders to satisfy and, despite any claims they may make, do not have the same interest in our village's character and sustainability that we do.

We have a beautiful village and we believe that the village knows what will work best for us and future residents - far better than any development firm can.

So our pledge is to do our best for the village and we would like to invite you to join us.
